SWIFT CAPITAL OPTIONS

Why Swift exists

Most good transactions don't fail. They're presented badly.

A business owner finds the right acquisition. An investor identifies the right building. The numbers work. The buyer is capable. And the financing still falls apart.

It usually isn’t the deal. It’s that the transaction reached a lender before anyone had built it properly — debt service calculated optimistically, equity injection that won’t survive underwriting, no working capital in the structure, a credit narrative that never explains why the buyer can run the business. Or the file was sound and simply went to the wrong institution: a bank with no appetite for that industry, that size, or that structure.

By the time the decline comes back, months are gone. The seller is nervous. And the next lender wants to know why the first one passed.

Swift Capital Options was built to close that gap. We structure and underwrite the transaction before it goes to market, then place it with lenders whose credit appetite genuinely fits — so the file arrives ready, at the right desk, the first time.

Leadership

Akem Durand

Founder & Managing Director

Akem Durand founded Swift Capital Options after ‹twelve› years in commercial lending, where he worked across ‹credit analysis, underwriting and business development at community banks and a national SBA lender›.

That work put him inside the process most borrowers only see from the outside: how a credit memo is actually read, which conditions are negotiable and which are not, why a committee declines a file that looks strong on paper, and how the same transaction can be approved at one institution and rejected at another. He has ‹underwritten and structured transactions across healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality and professional services, including SBA 7(a) and 504, conventional commercial debt, and owner-occupied and investment real estate›.

He founded Swift on a straightforward premise: business owners deserve the same preparation on their side of the table that lenders bring to theirs.

Akem holds a ‹B.S. in Finance from the University of North Carolina› and is based in ‹Charlotte, North Carolina›.

Our Standards

The Swift Philosophy

Structure before placement.
A transaction is built before it is marketed. Debt capacity, equity, seller financing and working capital are resolved first — not negotiated after a lender raises them.
Underwrite before submission.
We run the same analysis a credit committee will apply, in advance. If the deal won't hold, we would rather know before a lender does.
Select lenders strategically.
Not forty applications. Two or three institutions whose credit appetite genuinely fits the size, industry and structure of the transaction.
Communicate transparently.
If a transaction has a problem, you hear it from us early. We would rather lose an engagement than manage a client toward an outcome we don't believe in.
Stay involved through closing.
The work doesn't end at approval. Conditions, documentation and coordination are handled through to funding.

These are the standards the firm operates by — not one person's habits. They apply to every transaction Swift takes on.
